Consi and Bricktania Tie in International Friendly

On a rainy day in Resiburg, Consi tied Bricktania 2 - 2 after coming off a win from the Brikjian Cup final. What started as an even game was broken when Bricktanian striker Fredrick Carmicheal headed the ball to the back of the net in the 15th minute. Consian striker Alexander Greco found a crack in the Brickitanian defense and scored in the 27th minute. After halftime in the 51st minute, a Bricktanian player was yellow carded, awarding Consi a free kick. Consian Striker David Cedia kicked the ball to Sebastian Gomez (Midfielder) who headed it in. Michael Lewis scored again for Bricktania in the 71st minute with a beautiful upper 90 shot from 10 meters outside the box. The game went scoreless from then until the end of the match.

"It was a good game," said Consian midfielder Andre Goodman, "both teams were evenly matched. We tried our best, and they tried theirs. There are certainly things we have to improve on, but I'm happy with our performance today. A tie coming off of the Brikjian Cup is fine by me."

The Consi National Football Team plays Canada on August 18 and the Isle of Bricks in September or October. They are also involved in Euro 2012 qualifiers in group I.

The Consian Premier League announced today that the Consi Premier League would be renamed to the Consian Super League and that Consi Premier 2 would be renamed to Consian Super Division 2.

Consian Airspace Reopens

Consian airspace reopened on the 19th after being closed for nearly 4 and a half days.

The four and a half day back up has cost Air Consi nearly 4 million Euro and left thousands of travelers stuck in Consi. Travelers looking for alternatives tried the ferry Consi to Marseilles, France, although many found that once in mainland Europe the trains were hard to even find tickets for.

Airspace reopened on 19 April and chaos ensued. Travelers that were stranded and travelers that had flights on the day both needed to get on flights. This left flights overbooked.

Things soon got back to normal and now it's business as usual once again in the airspace over Consi.

Flights Canceled and Airports Close as Volcanic Ash Disrupts European Air Traffic

All airports in Consi, Saljbrikjia and Ajbrikjia were closed down today as the result of a volcanic ash from the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull Volcano in Iceland. All flights to and from the Brikjian Isle were canceled leaving hundreds of travelers stranded.

The Consi Airport Authority commanded that all airports in Consi be shut down immediately at around 4:00 PM local time, stranding hundreds of travelers at Consi-Arali International Airport and Olto Airport. This is one of only a few time that this command has been given.

A spokesperson for Air Consi said that it had gotten flights numerous flights off, but that flights to the Isle of Bricks and Amsterdam were forced to turn back.

It is unclear when airspace will reopen, although some speculate that flights will be up and running again by the weekend.

Resiburg Stadium Finished

Resiburg Stadium was officially declared open today after almost 2 years of construction.

Construction finished late last week, but the opening of it was postponed due to heavy rain and snow around the Resiburg area. The stadium will be used by AC Resiburg for one season, and then will close down to be fitted with equipment for the Olympic opening ceremonies and closing ceremonies. After the Olympics it will be used by AC Resiburg.

At the opening of the stadium was chairman of the Consian Olympic Committee Robert Olluy, mayor of Resiburg Jean Flasnick, and many members of the Resiburg Olympic Organizing Committee. At the end of the ceremony , the Olympic flag was raised.

Nistel Inc. of Bricktania opens European HQ in Consi City

Today, Nistel Inc. of Brickitania opened its European headquarters in Consi City, near Piazza Celghain.

The company has paired with Air Consi Cargo and several freight companies which will handle distributing the goods throughout Europe.

New Inter-Island High Speed Rail Opens

A new high speed rail opened today after 5 years of construction. The rail connects all 3 countries in the Brikjian Isle, and stops in most major cities.

The idea was brought up in 2002 by then Ajbrikjian Minister of Transport Michael Forn and all three governments quickly approved of the project. After almost 3 years of planning, the construction started in 2005. The project was delayed in 2006 and 2007 due to economic problems, but started again as the economy healed just as the recession hit hard in the United States.

From Consi City, the rail stops in Arali, then crosses into Saljbrikjia, stopping in Darir, Wuster, and Palentino. After that the rail crosses into Ajbrikjia stopping in Reaoe, and then crosses into Consi, stopping at Olto and Resiburg.

The rail will help with the Resiburg 2011 Lego Nations Olympics, ferrying people from all over the Brikjian Isle, and other spectators from Consi - Arali International Airport to Resiburg.

Resiburg wins olympic bid

It was an exiting scene as it was announced that Resiburg had won the bid for the LN Olympics. Flags were waving all over Resiburg and the rest of Consi when at 11:00 A.M. local time it was announced that Resiburg had been chosen to host the 2011 LN Olympics.

The president declared a national holiday, closing all banks and government offices for the day. The president spoke to the press on the bid win. "This is a very exiting day for our country, and I can not express the joy that hosting this event brings to me. On Monday, all planned projects shall hereby commence construction," stated president Aveary.

Projects that will soon begin are the Apland Center for curling in Resiburg, and Oster East Olympic Park, used for Snowboard Cross and Ski Cross. Resiburg Stadium is in the final stages of construction, and will be extended to hold 35,000 people. An additional concourse to Consi-Arali International airport will be built, as well as the renovation of A2.

Ursula Eyrstin spoke in Resiburg after returning from the vote in the Isle of Bricks.
"I am so exited about this great city winning the bid for the Lego Nations Olympics. The games will certainly be good for our country."

Consi wins in PK shootout thriller in Brikjian Cup final

Consi won the Brikjian Cup in a thriller today against Saljbrikjia at Wuster National Stadium in Wuster, Saljbrikia. Consi won 2-2 (win in PK shootout).

After advancing to the final Sunday the stage was set for the two teams to play. Ajbrikjia, after a amazing victory over Consi in the final last year did not even make it close to getting into this year's final.

The match started out slow, but David Marland of Saljbrikjia struck first, scoring after a perfect upper 90 shot in the 39th minute. In the 65th minute Oscar Reed a forward Consi was red carded after he received his second yellow card. Consi struck back in the 74th minute when Alexander Reslyn scored and again in the 79th minute with a score by Hans Eyd. Just as it looked like Consi would win Gerard Saceer scored in the 88th minute, tying the score at 2 all. Extra time went scoreless, and the game was all down to a penalty kick shootout. In an intense finale both teams scored all 5 kicks, but Consi prevailed when Hans Eyd scored, and Saljbrikjia failed to come up with a return score.

This is Consi's 16th victory in the Brikjian Cup since the football tournament began in 1971.

Two killed in police raid in Arali

Two were killed as police raided a townhouse in Arali that was housing 15 weapons traffickers. Police stormed the building at 4:30 AM. As the police commandos were entering the house they were fired upon by two of the traffickers with AK-47s. The commandos shot the men, and went on to arrest the remaining criminals. Seven of these men were previously wanted, but the others were not wanted.

The weapons traffickers were believed to be delivering weapons to rebel groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the militia in Megablokland.

Police also impounded three planes parked at Consi-Arali International Airport (CAI) that were filled with guns, explosives, and ammunition. The townhouse was only 3 kilometers from the airport and it is suspected that the traffickers were only staying overnight before leaving for Africa and Megablokland.

Further information on the weapons traffickers is classified and currently being investigated by the police.

Air Consi flight 234 emergency lands in Zurich

Air Consi flight 234 from Consi to Frankfurt emergency landed in Zurich after a jet engine on the Lego Aeronautical Systems L-3181 caught on fire. Upon landing, the fire was quickly put out by firefighters on the ground. All passengers and crew were evacuated safely.

Flight 234 took off 9:10 PM local time. While entering Swiss airspace, the engine caught fire. The pilot Captain Hans Durmand quickly maneuvered the plane with one engine to Zurich Kloten Airport, the nearest airport where the plane could land. Fire trucks met the plane on the ground putting out the fire in the engine.

Passenger David Ross explained what he experienced. "We were flying and all the sudden there was a loud 'bang!' A couple seconds later the pilot came on and said we would be making an emergency landing. You could smell the smoke coming in from the flaming jet. So the flight attendants got everyone from the back of the plane to empty seats in the front."

The plane named "Arali" registration CO-AIY sustained heavy damage to the right engine minimal damage to the rear, and will fly again. It is confirmed that the cause of the fire was because bearings on the rotor of the jet failed causing gas to build up, making the jet explode. Air Consi spokesman Emanuel Redd said the incident could have been avoided, and a routine maintenance check would have detected the problem.

CO-AIY is currently at Zurich and is scheduled to be flown back to Consi on an Antanov AN-124 on January 27. This is the first ever incident for Air Consi since it began operations in 1934 as Consian Air Service with a daily flight to Wuster, Saljbrikjia.

Aerist will launch Wind in quarter 2 of 2010

Consian car company Aerist announced today that it will launch its new car, the Wind in quarter 2 of 2010. It will be the first car by the company sold outside of the Brikjian Isle.

The car is a hybrid, the first by Aerist, and gets 20.83 kilometers to the liter. The Wind starts at €12,000 and for the diesel variant €13,000.

The Wind is scheduled to go into production the last week of March, and will delivered to Consian Aerist dealers soon after. The car will enter Saljbrikjian and Ajbrikjian market simultaneously.
In July, the car will begin to be sold in the rest of Europe. The Wind will be sold in the following countries: Ajbikjia, Consi, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Saljbrikjia, Slovenia, and Spain.

CEO of Aerist Sierra Lerain is hopeful that the Wind will be successful. "Our employees have been working on this concept ever since we started operations here at Aerist. Now we our taking our operation to a whole new level. We are expanding elsewhere in Europe, and opening 3 new plants across the Brikjian Isle to produce the Wind. The Wind is also one of the first cars to have a diesel hybrid variant, and for a low price too. I think this car will do good in its international debut," she said at a press conference.

City of Resiburg makes bid for 2011 Winter LN Olympics

The city of Resiburg nestled in the Aderlil Mountains of the Brikjian Isle has made a bid for the 2011 winter LN Olympics. The Brikjian Isle is very mountainous for its size, making good conditions for the winter Olympics, despite Consi being in the Mediterranean Sea.

1. Resiburg Stadium - Resiburg Stadium is currently the largest venue in Resiburg with a planned capacity of 30,000. The stadium is being built as the new home of AC Resiburg and a team form a neighboring town Aqila. It is in the final stages of construction and will be finished by mid-2010. The stadium could easily be converted into a place to hold both the opening and closing ceremonies.
2. Olympic Hockey Center - The Olympic Ice Arena one of few hockey stadiums in Consi, and is by far the largest. Home to the best hockey club in Consi, the venue holds 15,000. An extra 2,000 could be added.
3. Olympic Oval - Arena that is used for all kinds of speed skating. holds 12,000 people.
4. Resiburg Ice Arena - Arena used for Figure Skating. Has a capacity of 10,000 people.
5. Planned arena for Curling, capacity of 10,000 people

1. Resiburg Slider Park - Already existing venue for Bobsled, Luge, and Skeleton. Can handle 9,000 people, could be expanded to handle 11,000.
2. Oster East Olympic Park - Proposed olympic park to handle all snowboarding and skicross. Would have a capacity of 10,000 people.
3. Oster Mountain Olympic Alpine Center - An already existing ski center located about 10 kilometers from Resiburg. This center would handle Alpine Skiing, Freestyle Skiing, and Ski Jumping. Would be expanded to handle 15,000 people.
4. Snowflake Olympic Center - Under construction venue to handle Biathlon, Cross-country Skiing, and Nordic Combined. Seating capacity of 13,000.

Transportation in Consi: Roadways and Vehicles

Part 1: Roadways

Consi has a roadway system linking the Brikjian Isle. A map of the Brikjian Isle Road system, major roadways shown. Blue lines represent roadways connecting the three countries, and orange lines regional roadways (green sign Consi, yellow sign Ajbrikjia, red sign Saljbrikjia).
Smaller roads with the prefix S connect with various other points on the island (e.g. Consi City to Arali S11), although they are not shown. The main motorways are A2 and A5 which together form a full circle around the island.

Because of the Brikjian Tri-Nation Pact citizens of all three countries are able to travel across without customs.

Part 2: Vehicles

Most cars in Consi are foreign made, but Consi does have one car company called the Aerist Motor Company which manufactures a few models. Aerist sells only on the Brikjian Isle, but has plans to sell the new model, the Wind, in other countries in Europe. 1911 - War of Independence begins when Consain separatists declare independence. They are supplied by Southern Salbrikjia.
1913 - After Celghain (later Consi City) is captured, Consians declare victory when Northern Salbrikjia brokers for a cease-fire.
1914-1918 - WWI- Consi secretly supplies arms to the allies.
1921 - The Consain president Wilbur S. Valoser is assassinated by Northern Salbrikjian operatives. Consi then declares war on Northern Salbrikjia. They rapidly advance through the country, catching the forces off guard (as they had not been notified of the possible attack)
1922 - In the early months, the Northern Salbrikjian capital is surrounded. In the bloody 48 hour revolution, the monarchy government is overthrown and a democratic government is installed. The Northern Salbrikjia forces then surrender to Consi forces.
1924 - Consi forces pull out of Northern Salbrikjia. Southern Salbrikjia is renamed Salbrikjia and Northern Salbrikjia is renamed Ajbrikia.
1935 - In a legendary agreement, the three countries create the Tri-Nation Pact, which still applies to this day.
1939-1945 - World War Two breaks out. Consi supplies weapons and supplies to the allies.
1962-1964 - Consi fights the Red Legion communist insurgency. Bombings get the attention of the national government, and the leaders of the group are hunted down and captured.
1990-1991 - Gulf War, Consi sends a company of soldiers. Two are killed and eleven are wounded.
2004 - Consi joins the European Union.
2007 - Charles T. Aveary, the current leader is elected President of Consi.
2008 - Consi joins the Lego Nations.

City Expanding

In the month of July I added several baseplates to the Consi City diorama. The red building is nearing completion, so I also have 2 other big gray baseplates on the way. As this diorama is a long term work in progress, the city is being built slowly. Future plans include a pub, sushi bar, and a market. More updates to come in August.
